Cashmere Riverside Center
March 2nd, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
To All Cashmere Residents and Business Owners:
A community discussion on redevelopment of city property.
East Cashmere Property Redevelopment -- Planning Process
The public owns 20 acres of land along the Wenatchee River East of town that was once used as wastewater treatment lagoons. These lands are now available to be redeveloped to benefit our community.
A video tour of the site is available at www.cityofcashmer.org / Government/East Cashmere Property Redevelopment.
Planning ideas may include any combination of activities and uses supported by the community.
A citizen advisory committee will be formed to collect ideas, to work with a design consultant and draft a comprehensive property plan for public review.
This will be a long-term phased development. Planning, environmental reviews, permitting and the funding may take several years before any construction can start.
Constraints:
Adequate funding includes taxes for development operation and maintenance with donations and volunteers. Grant funding typically requires at least 50% local funding plus a commitment for adequate maintenance.
Traffic will be limited by a one-lane section of Riverfront Drive, squeezed between the railroad and river.
Consideration of impacts to residential areas of Riverfront Drive, Parkhill and neighboring areas.
Operations of the wastewater treatment plant may produce unpleasant odors.
